COAST
IRB - FLASH MOVIE
Set a professionally created DVD movie into
Flash MX 2004, with controls, for easy viewing and manipulation on
the homepage of Coast IRB. Took a 20mb file and reduced it to 6mb,
including sound. It took jumping through a few hoops due to sound
issues, but we got it to work. YES!
SHIMANO
- FLASH EVENTS MAP
Flash movie created for the Youth and Multi-Service sections of the
Shimano North American site. Has a counter intuitive actionscript
that causes the movie to go in the opposite direction of your mouse
movement. Definitely a lot of fancy actionscripting going on. A very
cool project to work on and it turned out pretty cool.
A Flash movie file called the "Level Solutions Wheel", which
features industry problem solution oriented animations and videos
produced by TK Media. The site designed was forced into a frames style
presentation in order to keep the wheel as "round" as possible
on cross-browser platforms. Wheel navigation concept was conceived
by Flowline President Scott Olson and created and implemented by STUDIO531.
BALI
HAI RESTAURANT - SITE INTRO:
When the Historic Bali Hai Restaurant in San Diego, California, changed
their name from Sam Choy's Bali Hai back to the Bali Hai Restaurant,
Larry Baumann Manager/Owner asked me to redesign their website. It
was a pleasure and an honor. While I am happy with the overall schematic
of how the site turned out, some of the visuals on it I plan to change.
MAKENA
PROPERTIES - WEBSITE INTRO
Website created for sales information on Spec
Construction Project in new devleopment area of South Orange County,
actually San Clemente, called Talega Lake. Includes sample layout
of each building in the strip center plaza.
DREW
BROPHY/SON OF THE SEA - SITE INTRO:
I had seen and admired Drew's art work long before meeting him thru
Holden at Tiki Farm, and had one of his T-shirts he designed for the
company Lost. I scanned in the T-shirt and animated it. If you haven't
seen Drew's work, go check it out at
www.drewbrophy.com. He's literally painted thousands of surfboards
over the years. Really amazing stuff. Also, check out my Drew Brophy
experimental animation on my experiments
page.
CURRIE
ENTERPRISES - SITE INTRO:
For the Currie Site Intro I animated picture of Frank Currie's 1932
Ford 514ci Deuce Coupe driving down a road, added some smoke, etc,
etc.. While the load is about 81k, and can take a little bit on a
56k, it turned out good. There were some requests for sound, but I
advised otherwise due to the download time. Perhaps when the majority
of web surfers have cable and DSL connections.
Using the main picture off the company brochure, and the company moniker
I created this intro for MicroStat Laboratories. I rather like this
intro. The file size is real small, the load is fast, it's clean,
and works good. Always put a click through menu on your Flash intro
if that's all you got on the homepage.
ECHONET
PRODUCT ANIMATION:
If I may say so myself, this product animation turned out great, not
to mention the file size of the animation was only around 23k. In
a nutshell, the product measures the volume of a given commerical
tank by sound echo within the tank. Once the tank volume reaches a
certain level, it sends out a wireless signal, which in turn is processed
through the internet and alerts the customer by email, etc., etc..
I developed the Flash Intro but also came up with the marketing ploy
of directing the Flash towards particular buyers of the site's products
listing, such as franchisees, coffee shop owners, bar owners, types
of events, etc. It's a huge site with over 200,000 items for sale.
I redesigned certain parts of the site, but most of the design was
complete before I worked on it. PLEASE NOTE:
THIS INTRO HAS BEEN SINCE REMOVED...
While I do like how this Intro turned out , I think the file size
is too big and would recommend that it be changed to reduce load time
on slower modems. Most people seem to like it a lot and it hasn't
been firmly requested yet.
It's down now but this homepage Intro was used for about 5 months
on Extreme4x4. Using Flash 4.0, I programmed JavaScript mini movies
as popup windows in the main flash movie so as to keep the main file
size at a minimum for quicker downloading. Worked out pretty good.

Updated:
12/27/05
Originally, the Tiki Farm website had a Flash Splash page that featured
animations conceived of by Holden Westland and or Charlie Rubel. The
older intros were placed into a section on the site called "Tiki
Theatre". The splash page has been removed as of June 2005, but
Tiki Theatre still remains. Make sure to check out Tiki
Theatre, as it showcases almost all of the Flash intros that we've
done for the site. Look for more in the future, as this was quite
a popular draw to the site, and lot's of people really did like it.
ATOMIC-TIKI
WEBSITE INTRO:
A lot like the Tiki Farm Intro (above) the atomic tiki intro is a
little different in that it is a full page Flash intro into the website/store
front. While the intro hasn't changed much since the site was first
launched, the shopping selection changes all the time. Make sure to
check it out.
STARLITE
ROOM INTRO:
This is an animation of the client's existing logo as the homepage
intro. I like the way it turned out with the jazz music and everything.
This guy's got a knack for finding really cool vintage stuff. Make
sure to check out his stuff too!
